Last time on Surf Girls, we are reminded of both Jenna and Vivian being in the red, and the surf off that is going to occur.

Before that, we learn that Vivian has a series of bug bites that have turned into a staff infection, which freaks out the girls, since it is contentious. She finds out that she’ll have to stay out of the water as well, which doesn’t look good for her chances. Jenna talks some more about not wanting to go home even though she is still in the red. So they give her the chance to travel to Hawaii with the girls, so she can see an American doctor. Good thought. When Danielle finally tells the girls about the surf off, it takes Jenna a while to understand what is going on. She finally gets it, and the girls get the chance to have one last free surf. Vivian goes to watch, as Robyn, Jen become front runners, and Molli kicks out onto the reef, trashing the front of her foot. She comes back to the boat, where the Tahitian doctors pour lime and lemon juice over the wound, which is the way to clean out the infection. She freaks out, which is understandable, since pouring citric acid into a wound is about LAST on the list of things I want to do. Robyn pulls out some good waves, and ends up winning the competition. Confusing, since she has done well at least 2 competitions and is still in the yellow.
The girls start the travel to Hawaii, and in the layover at LAX, Robyn gets everything into perspective. She gets the call that her grandmother, who basically raised her, is sick with lung cancer. Her family wants her to stay in the competition, but Robyn decides that family is more important than surfing, which, for her, is the first time something has been more important than surfing. Personally, I was sad to see her go, as she was one of my picks to do very well. We see at the end of the episode that her grandmother has passed away. Thoughts and prayers.
As the girls make it to Hawaii, Danielle carts off Vivian, Molli and Kula of to the hospital. Kula has trashed her shoulder, and she is just supposed to take it easy, which she says will be hard for her. The doctor says Molli’s foot is healing, but Vivian is another story. Apparently, her infections are much worse the Tahitian doctor said. He goes into one on her side, and pulls this thing out of her. That whole scene was number two on the list of things I NEVER need to see again. The doctor clears her to go back to the water in two days, which means that the surf off will occur. Wait, wasn’t that supposed to happen at the beginning of the episode?
They start the next day with a workout with the personal trainer/motivational speaker. We learn that only five girls will make it to the finals. Danielle talks more about the surf off, which I think Jenna still does not understand. The episode ends, which means that all this talk about the surf off went no where, as we have to wait another week for it to happen.
