So we’ve made it to the start of the finals of Surf Girls.
Knowing MTV, it will take another 5 episodes to get to the end, but for now, lets look at tonight. We start with Jen, Molli and April at the beach putting in an extra workout. They are with their personal trainer/motivation speaker, and another girl, who I think is Vivian. Lets give it up to some good editing.
Kula is then seen by a chiropractor, because he shoulder is still hurting. The doctor looks at the x-ray, and then asks her age, because he can’t believe a 19 year old would have such a trashed shoulder. She says it serves as a wake up call for her, that she could really hurt herself with this. The doctor tells her she should not be surfing for a while, which we all know will not happen.
Were then treated to the girls last dinner before the competition. Tensions are high, both because of the competition, and there are some girls that are just sick of each other. Mary is sick of April, and the constant talk she plays. She’s waiting for her to finally stop talking. Danielle manages to talk the girls through some nice talk about the time they have had, but you can tell all the girls are thinking about is the competition the next day. Later, they are up in April’s room, where you can tell April’s constant moving mouth is becoming a problem. Molli worries that she is all talk, but no show there.
The next morning, Kula and Mary are trying to get out of the house early, but are stuck waiting for the other girls, especially April. Apparently, this has become a problem, so Mary is getting pissed off. (I’m not exactly sure what happens next because my cable company decided to show a commercial, then cut back into the show.) We find the girls ready. There will be a semi-final heat for the long boards, so Jen and Molli get a break. Mary, Kula and April paddle out. May comes out of the gate with a huge wave, and the judges are impressed. Kula comes out with an OK wave, and you can tell her body is hurting. April cuts Kula off for a wave, but that’s ok, because in the last 30 seconds, Kula snakes April for a wave, and both girls crash. The judges decide that they will have to drop one of April’s waves, because she was interfering on Kula’s wave. As soon as April gets out of the water, she is pissed because she thinks it will count against her. She storms off before even listening to the judges. Kula is a little upset over the whole thing, and Danielle reminds her she did what she had to do to stay in. Kula also points out how many other times April has done this. Payback. So the spiritual guru goes after April, who is pissed that she is being viewed as the “competitive one” and really, she thinks she is not. Yea, and the DQ’s from earlier meant nothing. She comes back, and the judges say that while she was second, the dropping of one wave means she is third, and eliminated. That’s OK to her, because she then leaves, not watching the rest of the competition. April’s final comment is that they all must be jealous of her beauty. Ok then.
Next week, we are finally at the final. And Molli breaks a thing of champagne in front of the Roxy sign, whatever that means.
