It's appropriate that I'm not sending this in until Saturday, because starting next week, that's when Race to the Altar will be airing. We're halfway home, I believe.
The episode opens with Carolyn & Ethan discussing how they will miss Andy & Becca. Coyt & Susan say that at this point they only trust Cindy & Chris (sorry to say guys, they're the ones you shouldn't be trusting right now).
The first challenge was a competition over place settings. On a patio, they had several different settings that could be used for a wedding reception. The women were told to sit at the table of their choice of pattern. The men were told that each table was missing a plate and that the plates were at the bottom of the Venetian fountain. When you picked the plate of your choice, it was yours to keep. Of course, Coyt and Susan came up first, and all but Chris & Cindy and Robert & Grace came up with their first choices. Chris didn't want to get his shoes wet, and Robert initially grabbed the wrong plate and then had one taken out of his hand, so he ended up with the pattern (a beach pattern) that no one wanted. Chris & Cindy fought in their room afterwards about the shoes.
Then it was time for the "physical" challenge, which was high stakes blackjack. Each couple started with $10,000 in real cash and they would play 20 hands. Whoever had the most money at the end of 20 hands, got to keep the cash and became Power Couple #1 for the episode. I'll give you 3 guesses who won, and the first 2 don't count. Of course, Susan and Coyt walked away with $18,000, although by betting everything on their last hand, Cindy and Chris came close with $17,300. Susan & Coyt are becoming the Colby Donaldson of this competition. I only hope they choose the right one(s) to take to the final and correct Colby's mistake.
Then it's time for a night out of fun. First stop the Stratosphere and the 2 thrill rides on the roof. Robert and Grace get into a big argument because Robert didn't want to ride the roller coaster, fearing he might re-injure the hand he cut during the fountain excursion. This argument continues when the couples arrive at the Ghost Bar at the Palms Hotel (where Real World Las Vegas was shot).
The next morning several of the couples are shown strategizing. I figured at this point that Susan & Coyt would throw the next challenge, since Susan had wanted to the last episode. However, they return to the Palms for a game of "What If?" where the women were asked how their fiances would answer questions based on scenarios. At first, Coyt & Susan seemed to be running away with it again, but several of the teams caught them when they made a slip up. In regulation it came down to Cindy & Chris and Andree & Tonya tied, and A&T won in the tiebreaker.
One thing that both Andree & Tonya and Coyt & Susan had noted is that since Vinny & April were able to compete in both competitions (she actually no longer needed the eye patch either) that they were a strong couple, and so Vinny & April were the couple eliminated this week. Their wedding is scheduled in a few weeks on September 6th. I wish them lots of luck. They pulled through when the going got tough. I don't dispute who the power couples eliminated.
