So Who won? And what happened?

Reichen and Chip (second to first, +1) - They left at 2:14 am. The clue instructed them to drive in a marked car to Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park and go through a ceremony. The hours of operation are 6 am to 6 pm and there is $1 for this leg of the race. They arrive second at the park and wait for it to open. All the teams go through the ceremony and get a message stick that contains their clue. It tells tem to drive to the Cairns International Airport and find the General Aviation terminal. They are third out of the park. After passing Kelly and Jon, they spin out on a turn on the wet road. They recover and continue to the airport. Here they find the detour. The options are “wing it or wander it.” In Wing It, the teams board a plane, go up 10,000 feet and sky dive in tandem with an instructor. In Wander It, the teams must search through a mango forest for marked boats, drive them out of the forest to the sky dive landing spot for the next clue. They choose Wing It and are the third team to leave. Reichen voice-overs that he felt safer in the plane than in the car with Chip driving. The next clue directs them to fly to Hawaii or “the big island.” There they will use a marked car to drive to Kaulana Bay, the southern most point of the United States. They grab a taxi to the Cairns International Airport. They decide to go to the domestic terminal to decide what tickets to get. They find a Qantas flight to Tokyo and a connection on United to Honolulu. They go to the international terminal, get the tickets and board the flight. Kelly and Jon are also on this flight. There is 45 minutes for them to make the connection once in Tokyo. When they land, they look at screens and determine that they have to take a bus to Terminal One. They get their tickets and board the plane. Since they were last to board, the attendants seated them in business class even though they had economy tickets. The flight lands at 6:55 am. They drive to the bay where they find the roadblock. The initial clue is “Who is a strong swimmer and good with a hammer?” Chip takes the roadblock. He must swim to some floating tiki heads, dive and retrieve a rock. He must take the rock to land and break it open with tools provided to get the next clue. Chip has a hard time breaking the rock open but he succeeds. The clue directs them to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. They must find the marked lookout point and follow a marked path to the next clue. This clue directs them to Phoenix, Arizona. Once there, they must find the anchor from the USS Arizona, one of the ships that sank due to the attack on Pearl Harbor. They go to Hilo Airport to fly to Honolulu and then to Phoenix. At Honolulu, they ask for the closest seats and they get the front row. It ends up being the same plane as Kelly and Jon. While waiting, they ask around about the anchor and get the exact address. They get the first cab and give the cab drive extra money for driving faster. They are first to the anchor where they are directed to the southeast entrance of Sundevil stadium. There they have to solve a riddle to find the next clue. The riddle is Happy Valentine’s Day + White + White. The Whites are two players whose names and numbers are on the walls of the stadium. It directs them to Section 214, row 33, seat 11. First they think it is section 2 but then they discover the higher sections. They find the clue and leave. The clue directs them to the west entrance of Papago Park. There they must ride mountain bikes to the finish line where the eliminated teams are waiting to cheer them on. They are first to the park and win the $1 million.

Kelly and Jon (third to second, +1) - They left at 2:38 am. They are the third to the park. They get out of the park second. They watch Reichen and Chip spin out after passing them. They get the second position at the detour and pick wing it. On the plane, Kelly starts to freak out. They land and get the clue. They taxi to the international terminal. Instead of waiting for David and Jeff to finish getting their tickets, Kelly asks another person about flights. She goes back to the ticket counter and tells Jon that Sydney is no good. They could go but they would miss the connecting flight to Hawaii. They decide to go to Tokyo and transfer to United to Hawaii. They end up on the same flight as Reichen and Chip. In Tokyo, they ask an employee how to get to United. She tells them to take a tram. On the way to the tram, Kelly tells Jon to check the screens but he just gets on the tram. As it leaves, the employee runs up to try and signal to them that she made a mistake but it was too late. An employee at the next terminal gets them a bus and tells the driver to go fast. They run to the counter but they are too late. The employee tries to argue with the person in charge, but he wouldn’t budge. They get a flight that lands at 8:05 am (1 hour and 10 minutes later). They drive to the bay. Jon does the roadblock naked. He gets dressed and they drive to the park. They get the clue and drive to Kona Airport for the flight to Honolulu. At the ticket counter, they ask the agent to check and see if Reichen and Chip are on the flight. The agent tells them that the guys are four rows ahead of them. They get to the taxi second and get a little lost. Jon gives the taxi extra money to go faster. They are second to the anchor. They arrive second to the stadium and find the clue fairly easy. They are second to the park and to the finish line.

David and Jeff (first to third, -2) - They left at 1:47 am. They are first in and out of the park. They get the first position for the detour. They choose wing it. They are first to land and arrive at the Cairns International Airport. They decide to fly to Sydney and get tickets to Honolulu the next day. At Sydney, they try to find earlier flights to Honolulu, but strike out. They try to find a flight to a different city to get to Honolulu, but they fail there as well. They take their original flight to Hawaii. At Hawaii Volcanoes National Park at 5:30 am, their clue reads “Reichen and Chip have crossed the finish line and won. The Amazing Race is over. Kelly and Jon got second place.” It’s almost fitting that the race finishes like this if the rumors are true that this is the last season (that we hope isn’t true). It is similar to the first season where two male best friends won, a co-ed team got second, and two gay guys find out about the result in a different state not part of the continental 48 states.
