The 12 remaining designers are divided into two new groups and sent on a design mission. Half of the designers from each team are sent on a trip to research designs based on the culture of the American West and are to report their findings to the teams back in New York. When one of the teams on location calls back to New York to download the rest of the team, a communication breakdown between two designers leads to a heated exchange.
Meanwhile, on the other team, one designer spends all of the team's money on a risky proposition, which leaves the teammates furious. A last ditch effort to come through for the team leads to a tense cab ride back to the Cutting Room with only seconds to spare.
