8th and Ocean begins with Britt, a Midwestern girl who seems less than comfortable in the flashy, fast-paced city of Miami. The girls get acquainted with Britt when they arrive at the apartment. The girls seem friendly now, but will their caddy nature and the fierce competitive natures interfere with the female bonding?

Sisters Sabrina and Kelly have already had multiple conflicts, there are bound to be more in the future. Sabrina becomes easily jealous when Kelly receives more praise for her modeling skills, and her envy is increased when Kelly is awarded an eight-page spread in Miami’s most posh magazine, Ocean Drive. Sabrina has a conference with Irene Marie, the owner of the modeling firm, who instructs her to open up more and know what she is doing.

The guys are seen lounging around and playing video games. They go out to a club later—they seem to take very few things seriously. The girls also go out to a club where they teach Britt how to dance.

The next day, Kelly goes on her Ocean Drive photo shoot where she gets wet and wild with a male model. Her sister, on the other hand, arrives for moral support, but does little else.
